The Paul F. Glenn Center for Aging Research, a joint research program between University of California (UC) investigators on the Berkeley and San Francisco campuses, is a unique scientific endeavor that aims to advance our understanding of the fundamental events underlying the aging process and how they may impact the propagation and spreading of misfolded proteins. In the creation of this center, UCSF and UCB researchers are addressing one of the most fundamental and difficult questions facing the aging field: how aging both accelerates and reciprocally is exacerbated by a loss in protein homeostasis and an increase in protein misfolding.
